SHENSHAN SPECIAL COOPERATION ZONE News / New Project / 01.08.2018

McGregor Coxall and Local Design Institute, the Architectural Design & Research Institute of South China University have been shortlisted to participate in the International Urban Design Competition for the Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone. The competition scope includes detailed design of the zone's high-speed rail and administration precincts and urban design of the future cityscape that will be positioned as a functional, sustainable and human-centred metropolis that celebrates local culture and historical context of the site.  Located 60 km east of Shenzhen and west of Shanwei city, the Cooperation Zone currently holds a registered population of 76,500 and 23.86 square kilometers of built-area. By 2035 it is anticipated that the built area will increase to 145 square kilometers housing a population of 1.5 million people with public auxiliary facilities equipped to meet projected needs of 3 million people.
