McGregor Coxall were engaged by Doma Group to undertake Landscape Architecture and Urbanism services for this unique Garden City precinct. The team won a 2 stage Tender process which will allow 380 residential dwellings in a mix of stand-alone houses, terraces, and apartments. Designed to harmonise with the character of the site and existing Yarralumla streetscapes the new development will create a modern mixed use precinct whilst preserving the sites heritage for future generations.

The former brick quarry will provide significant amenity for public open space including ‘Quarry Park’ a wetland, community gardens and plaza. The ACT Land Development Agency engaged a committee of stakeholders to develop a list of objectives guiding the future development of the site. The objectives outlined by the committee included the restoration and conservation of the brickworks and site heritage and implementation of diverse and sustainable housing options that will set new benchmarks in the ACT and nationally.

Chief Minister Andrew Barr said the community representatives had provided advice as part of the assessment process, ensuring any work carried out on the site reflected “the expectations of the local and broader community”.
