Queanbeyan Downtown Q 2025

Queanbeyan Business Chamber / Queanbeyan, Australia

McGregor Coxall was awarded two prizes in the prestigious design competition – Downtown Q 2025. The Commercial Q concept ‘Ngambri Q’ was awarded First Prize and the Downtown Q Master Plan concept ‘Clearwater Q’ was awarded a Commendation. Downtown Q represents an opportunity for renewal and redevelopment of one of Australia’s oldest inland settlements.

McGregor Coxall’s winning concept ‘ClearWater Q’ is an urban strategy designed to transform the centre of Queanbeyan using water as the city brand and reunite the city with its river origins. By turning around the lost connection to its riverfront and celebrating water as the story that unites public life, the centre can be revived into a living, breathing heart.  The concept establishes a framework for ‘incremental urbanism’ over the next decade and beyond, and will be the catalyst for enhancing vibrant public life in a modern pedestrian friendly city.
