The Paddocks Precinct playground is located within the world heritage listed Parramatta Park. The Parramatta Parklands Trust engaged McGregor Coxall to lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver the detailed design, documentation for tender and construction of the project. The playground has been designed in sympathy with the existing site conditions, protecting a number of heritage values and retaining all trees, with a mature Eucalypt forming the focal point of the large multi-purpose deck, providing shade and scale to the space.
The Paddocks Precinct delivers a regionally significant playground that will become a focal point of one of Sydney’s most important cultural landscapes. The playground, which is set out across 6 large ‘play rings’ intersected by the deck, includes water play, structured play elements, free play opportunities and a number of all abilities opportunities including a carousel, water pumps and woodland discovery area. The design also incorporates the rehabilitation of McCarrs Creek, which flows into the Parramatta River.
