Duck River Corridor Masterplan

Cumberland Council / Merrylands, Australia

Located at the geographic centre of greater Sydney, the Duck River is a key hydraulic, biodiversity and green grid link. Experiencing many changes throughout history, the river corridor now faces issues of poor water quality, riparian environment degradation, underutilised open space and community assets, ultimately neglected and disconnected. McGregor Coxall worked with Cumberland City Council to develop a masterplan to realise the full potential of the river corridor in delivering value and benefit to local communities and regional visitors alike.

The masterplan sets out future projects and interventions at the regional and local level for revitalising and enhancing the Duck River corridor, aligned with short, medium and long term implementation. Set within the strategic context of the Sydney Green Grid and Central River City, the masterplan imagines the future and embraces a vision of the Duck River as the ‘green heart of Cumberland and a vital artery of greater Sydney’.
