Danish architecture firm Henning Larsen has designed a 183-metre-tall skyscraper as part of the Cockle Bay Park development, featuring extensive retail, recreational, and commercial amenity on Sydney’s picturesque waterfront. McGregor Coxall was commissioned to create a series of thoughtful, spatially conscious public parks and greenspaces that unite the harbourside precinct to the greater CBD.
Combining landscape and urban design principles, our approach creates synchronicity between the CBD and Darling Harbour through a park that doubles as a land bridge extending across the bisecting Western Distributor motorway. Canopy coverage is maximised to create a comfortable public domain for workers and residents. Collaboration with contemporary design strategists, Balarinji, evokes an Indigenous-inspired planting palette and public art strategy that pays respect to land, sky, and sea. The tower will be elevated on pillars above the ground level, broken up by green spaces inserted into the building to create an asymmetrical, floating effect.
