Planning Approved for Clarence Road to Deliver New Homes in Bristol

Bristol City Council has granted planning permission for 435 new homes at Clarence Road, a development site situated adjacent to the iconic Bristol Temple Meads Station and forming part of the Temple Quarter regeneration area, which aims to create a ‘flourishing new urban quarter for Bristol’. Work will now begin to regenerate the brownfield site.

McGregor Coxall has been engaged by Dandara to provide landscape architectural services for the transformative project. The design envisions a harmonious assembly of buildings around a landscaped courtyard, connecting Chatterton Square and Clarence Road. With space for new public amenities, co-working spaces, and a new public route enriched by diverse plantings and natural play areas, the development will enhance both the urban experience and biodiversity. Substantial investment in nearby infrastructure, including widened pavements and segregated cycle lanes, supports the city’s commitment to safety and sustainability.

The collaboration highlights the importance of blending architectural excellence with sustainable, community-driven design.
