London Studio hosts CIWEM Water Quality Panel

This week, we had the pleasure of hosting the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) Water Quality panel event at our London studio. Organised and introduced by Nora Balboni, McGregor Coxall Associate Environmental Engineer, the panel brought together industry experts from Buckinghamshire Council, Chilterns AONB, and Stormwater Shepherds to discuss critical issues surrounding water quality and pollution.

Speakers Jed Ramsay and Kate Heppell shared findings from the Smarter Water Catchments project, which focusses on the river Chess. This initiative unites key organisations and community groups to address issues on a catchment scale and aims to restore one of the Chiltern’s finest chalk streams to health. The project takes a ‘systems-based’ view of the environment to address multiple challenges and deliver landscape-scale solutions that make the most of bigger opportunities to aid nature’s recovery.

Stormwater Shepherd and CIWEM’s Highway Runoff and the Water Environment report was presented by one its key authors, Jo Bradley. It explores the problem caused by pollution from highway outfalls and potential solutions such as environmental permitting, remediation, and funding.

Thank you to the speakers and audience for contributing to an insightful evening.
