Dandara engaged McGregor Coxall to provide Landscape Architecture services for a strategically situated development site featuring 435 units, adjacent to Bristol’s iconic Temple Meads Station.
The project envisions a harmonious assembly of diverse buildings centred around a terraced landscaped courtyard, seamlessly connecting Chatterton Square and Clarence Road. The inclusion of a café and affordable co-working spaces aims to enrich the urban experience for both commuters and residents.
At the core of our approach, McGregor Coxall utilised our very own Living Infrastructure methodology, ensuring a sustainable design that benefits both people and nature. This framework integrates urban ecology, social equity, and resilience, delivering a future-proof development that harmonises with the city’s natural systems. The design prioritises environmental sensitivity, promoting biodiversity while fostering an inclusive urban environment.
The development introduces a new public route through the site, integrating a variety of plantings and private terraces to significantly enhance biodiversity. Substantial investment is directed towards improving adjacent infrastructure, featuring widened pavements and secure, segregated cycle lanes along Clarence Road and Temple Gate, thereby transforming the commuting experience and enhancing safety.
This collaboration represents a commitment to architectural excellence and sustainable development, harmonising aesthetic appeal with functionality, and fostering community engagement and environmental sustainability. The initiative aims to create a vibrant, accessible, and green urban environment, reflecting the evolving needs of the city and its residents.
