Green Square Centre Nears Completion

In 2001 McGregor Coxall in association with Wiel Arets from the Netherlands and Turner Associates won an international design competition to masterplan the Green Square Centre in South Sydney. The urban regeneration project proposed new sustainable typologies of living, working and leisure over the existing Green Square railway station on a contaminated brownfields site.

Now 25 years later, the town centre is almost complete delivering an airport linked multi-modal transport hub supporting a lively and diverse series of civic places. Structured about a large continuous public domain surface of parks and streets, the project has delivered mixed use buildings and public amenities. Green Square now has the highest population density in Sydney.

The Drying Green Park by McGregor Coxall is complete and sits alongside the new library providing public amenity for the centre.
