Aldea Tropicalia shortlisted for the World Architecture Festival

World Architecture Festival (WAF) is the largest live awards event for architects and designers. Held annually, it is the only awards program where all finalists present their projects live to a panel of judges at the festival in Miami, Florida.

McGregor Coxall’s Aldea Tropicalia masterplan for a biophilic village in the Dominican Republic has been shortlisted in the Future Projects: Masterplanning category at this year’s festival.

Drawn from more than 630 entries this year, the shortlist spans completed buildings, interiors, landscapes, and future concepts across eight distinct categories.

McGregor Coxall Founder and CEO Adrian McGregor says the shortlisting reflects the studio’s biourbanism approach to masterplanning:

“Aldea Tropicalia is a demonstration of what’s possible when regenerative ecology and urban design are treated as one discipline, not two. Being shortlisted alongside the world’s leading practices at WAF demonstrates how biourbanism creates health and well-being to sustain urban living.”

All finalists will head to the World Architecture Festival in Fort Lauderdale this November to present their work live before international juries.

A spacious, modern market hall within the Tropicalia Village Masterplan features tall ceilings, abundant hanging greenery, wooden columns, dining tables, and people enjoying the lively, sunlit food and fruit stalls.
