Alibaba, Yu Hang
The tea farms of Hangzhou is deeply engrained the the country’s history and culture. The campus masterplan proposes to highlight this cultural icon in the form of a modern lifestyle campus. Alibaba will be an active ‘sticky’ campus where people spend time working, playing and learning like a great University campus. The campus supports a diverse range of uses including on site tea farming, sports, outdoor lectures/theatre, dining and lounging. Two main elements create a distinctive and site specific aesthetic; the teas hills and the concourse. The tea hills is symbolic the areas rich culture, heritage and prosperity of original tea farms of old Hangzhou. The concourse is a hardscape concept the formally links the campus spaces and provides a platform for activities and events. Both the tea hills and concourse are highly integrated to form a unique and diverse place for a enriching campus lifestyle.
