Afonso holds an academic background in both Philosophy (BA Hons) and Earth & Environmental Sciences, with a Masters in Environmental Management. Fascinated by philosophy from the perspective of human, social, and life sciences, his study endeavoured to understand the philosophical, critical, and ethical dimensions of science.

Afonso approaches projects with vigour, utilising a unique background focussed on the analysis of nature, the dynamics of society and human behaviour, and the limits of human understanding to create considered strategies for resilient environments and communities.

Developing leadership and communication skills through diverse multidisciplinary academic and professional experiences, he faces challenges with determination.
