Cattai Creek Corridor
Cattai Creek has faced significant degradation from a history of agricultural land uses and urban encroachment. Repositioning the creek as a regional spine for recreational, ecological, and economic uplift, McGregor Coxall worked collaboratively with Hills Shire Council to restore the waterway’s natural function and usability while addressing accessibility, conservation, and flood risk concerns. Our response delivered an activated linear parkland with the design of an immersive, off-road, shared user path experience with a chain of new parklets along the revegetated creekfront. Key to the success of our masterplan plan was the identification of new access routes and zones for edge activation to inform future development plans adjoining the creek for enhanced permeability, safety, and new retail and commercial frontages. The north-south pathway is enriched with a series of sensitively integrated bridges, lookouts, furniture, and nature-based playgrounds for active and passive recreation and opportunities to connect, learn and take care of nature.
