New nature-based playground opens at Parramatta Park News / Project Opening / 20.11.2015

The new playground facility within the Paddocks precinct of Parramatta Park, a key feature of McGregor Coxall’s masterplan for the park’s revitalisation, is now open to the public. The playground is the first stage of a major upgrade to the western area of Parramatta Park as part of a wider rejuvenation of the park. Having completed the masterplan of the Parramatta Park upgrade for Western Sydney Parks Trust in 2013, McGregor Coxall is now engaged in the delivery of Stage 2 of the Paddocks precinct.

The design strategy for the Paddocks precinct involves upgrading the creek line to improve ecology and promote further community engagement. Included in the $8.7 million upgrade of the precinct is a new playground, picnic shelters, barbecue facilities, public toilets and new pathways to enhance the visitor experience. The new nature-based playground is located next to Domain Creek amongst existing trees and at a safe distance from vehicular traffic. It incorporates a new pedestrian bridge over Domain Creek.
