Albion Lane Opened By Lord Mayor of Sydney News / Event / Project Opening / 31.10.2012
Lord Clover Moore MP officially reopened Albion Place on the 18th June 2012, after five months of work by the City of Sydney to restore the unloved inner-city lane. The laneway was designed by McGregor Coxall and includes steel seating terraces, a low tech green wall and energy efficient lighting. A key component of the revitalised laneway is the Watling trees artwork by Darlinghurst artist Caroline Rothwell. The artwork forms a series of 12 stainless-steel panels that have been attached to the cinema exit doors along the lane, each panel etched with rotating images of a tree that grew in the area in the 1700s. The Lord Mayor also said \"Albion Place has returned to its former glory and is once again a laneway that will encourage people to slow down, admire the new surroundings and even stop for a drink or bite to eat at one of the restaurants opening up along the lane\"
