One Circular Quay

One Circular Quay is located in the historic Circular Quay quarter, between Jørn Utzon’s Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The development comprises two world-class residential and hospitality towers designed by Kengo Kuma and Kerry Hill, in association with Crone and Partners, and will be home to the Waldorf Astoria Sydney.

The architecture departs from conventional tower typologies, making a single unified gesture that responds to the street below while maintaining geometric clarity in the skyline. Large architectural pixels of glass, local sandstone, and integrated Australian vegetation articulate the facades, anchoring the towers in the materiality of Sydney.

At street level, the development’s frontage to Circular Quay forms an activated public edge connecting the waterfront promenade to Sydney’s inner-city laneway network. Shops, cafés, and an open lobby engage directly with the public realm. High-end retail and public art activate the base of both towers, with laneways providing through-site connections that extend the fine grain of the surrounding urban fabric into the precinct.

The landscape architecture and public domain are defined by a layered approach to greening. Extensive green walls cover significant portions of the building facades, providing a living backdrop to the street-level public domain and softening the transition between built form and open space. Green roofs extend this vegetation system across podium levels, contributing canopy cover, urban cooling, and habitat continuity across the precinct. Together, the green walls and roofs form a continuous vegetation framework that moves from the ground plane upward through the building, integrating the public domain planting with the architecture above.

At the tower’s summit, a rooftop terrace, bar, pool, and restaurant overlook the harbour and Sydney’s skyline.
