Liverpool Green Grid

Liverpool City Council / Parramatta, NSW, Australia

The Liverpool Green Grid is a strategic plan to connect and strengthen green spaces across Sydney’s Liverpool LGA, tackling challenges like urban heat, fragmented habitats, and limited canopy cover. McGregor Coxall developed an evidence-based framework that turns state-level green infrastructure priorities into local action, creating a resilient network of parks, waterways, and green corridors. Now embedded in Council’s planning controls, the framework has already led to new green infrastructure projects and ensures long-term protection for priority corridors. Using innovative GIS analysis, the Liverpool Green Grid improves environmental resilience, links ecosystems, and ensures all residents have better access to quality open space.
