Incorporating the suburbs of Zetland and Beaconsfield and parts of Roseberry, Alexandria and Waterloo, the Green Square Urban Renewal Area is located within the most important economic corridor in the country. Sitting between Sydney’s City Centre and Kingsford Smith International Airport, Green Square covers 278ha of Australia’s oldest industrial area and has long been considered the largest and perhaps most important renewal project in Australia. McGregor Coxall together with the City of Sydney developed the Public Domain Strategy to guide the public domain design to the Green Square Town Centre. It establishes the design co-ordination, material palette applications and technical links necessary to facilitate broad integration between council’s key visions and practical design guidelines. The Public Domain Strategy is intended to be a source of reference to achieve consistent decision making for the City and developers to inform the projects that will eventually deliver the Town Centre.
