Acland Street Master Plan
The City of Port Phillip engaged McGregor Coxall to create a streetscape frame work for St Kilda’s Acland Street. As part of Public Transport Victoria’s (PTV) project to make Route 96 Melbourne’s first fully accessible tram route, PTV plan to construct a new level-access tram terminus in the street in the winter of 2016. Taking into consideration the wider revitalization underway in the area, McGregor Coxall developed a design solution that celebrates the history and culture of St Kilda by prioritising pedestrian access and investing in the long term social, environmental and economic dividends of a more adhesive public realm. The resulting framework will allow Acland Street to maintain it's intimate scale and secure its position as St Kilda's vibrant village heart.
