Biourbanism – a model for designing climate resilient cities

Adrian McGregor’s Book “Biourbanism :: Cities As Nature” argues that cities are nature. The resilience model for creating sustainable cities outlined in his award-winning book has been featured in the Agenda Journal of the QLD/NT Planning Profession.

A book titled “Biourbanism: Cities as Nature | A Resilience Model for Anthropocenes” by Adrian McGregor. The cover features an intricate illustration of a globe with city structures and green areas, showcasing the essence of biourbanism—a harmonious blend of urban and natural environments.

“The world’s 10,000+ cities now emit more than 75% of all global greenhouse gas emissions, making them hotspots for environmental degradation and vulnerability to climate-related disasters,” he says.

“With over 70% of the world’s population living in urban areas, cities are both the cause and solution to the climate crisis.

“Biourbanism proposes a paradigm shift in urban design thinking, emphasizing the interconnectedness of various systems within cities.”
