McGregor Coxall’s UK Studio has been shortlisted for three awards recognising exemplary design across urban design and regenerative placemaking categories. These awards serve as a testament to the talent, creativity, and unwavering commitment of the Bristol team in delivering innovative and sustainable design solutions that make a positive impact on communities worldwide. The three projects nominated as finalists are Cherry Hinton Design Code, Redcliffe Way, and Purley Regeneration Framework.

Cherry Hinton Design Code – National Urban Design Awards 2023, finalist in the Design Codes category

The Cherry Hinton Design Code, a collaborative effort between Pollard Thomas Edwards and McGregor Coxall, is a carefully considered detailing of the requirements for the development of 1200 new homes, a new local centre, and two new schools at the East Cambridge site. The design code sets out a unique living infrastructure approach, focusing on climate resilience and the creation of a socially inclusive network of community spaces.

Redcliffe Way – Pineapple Awards 2023, finalist in the Future Places category

A visionary urban renewal initiative led by Goram Homes and Bristol Housing Festival. At the centre of the Redcliffe Way project is Groupwork’s transformation of Portwall car park into a translucent mirage that references the architectural language of Bristol's past by borrowing and 'misremembering' historical fragments of the city.

This architectural emblem is a catalyst project for a McGregor Coxall-led vision which sees Redcliffe Way reimagined as an iconic, integrated parkland that is sensitively intertwined within the social, cultural, and environmental fabric of Redcliffe. Where living replaces grey, car travel becomes active travel and air pollutants are purified into breathing ecosystems.

Purley Regeneration Framework – Pineapple Awards 2023, finalist in the Community Engagement category

A strategic project that is centred around a genuine community-led vision including visual questionnaires, interactive school assembly workshops, digital mapping, and the Purley Panel – a group of people demographically representative of Purley. Led by Urban Symbiotics and supported by McGregor Coxall the holistic framework responds to the challenges posed by increased transport pressures, housing development, and changes to the high street.
