McGregor Coxall recently submitted the concept masterplan for Birubi Point, part of the Worimi Conservation Lands, along with a Development Application for the first stage of the works, the Birubi Interchange. The proposed interchange is envisaged as an information and tourist drop off area, diverting traffic from the beach front which has limited vehicle access whilst encouraging visitors to engage with the Landscape. In collaboration with the Worimi People (the traditional owners of the land), Port Stevens Council and other stakeholders, the team is developing an evolutionary strategy to safeguard the cultural, environmental and recreational character of the site while positioning its future as a place for visitors to actively engage with Aboriginal Country. The project has three main objectives; clarifying movement and access, expanding the experiences available and time spent on site and protecting and enhancing the natural landscape, local ecologies and cultural heritage.
