FRANKSTON STATION CONSTRUCTION

FRANKSTON STATION CONSTRUCTION News / Project Milestone / 28.02.2018

Construction on the Frankston Station redevelopment will commence in February 2018, including new public plazas and walkways by McGregor Coxall. The $63 million redevelopment of the station and surrounding precinct will also include four station buildings: a cafe, an administration building including a ticket office, a waiting room and toilets and driver facilities. Aimed at creating a thriving, modern transport hub, Genton Architecture with McGregor Coxall won the state sponsored design excellence competition in March 2017 from a total of 39 entries. Since completing the competition the team has been working with government to develop and refine the design which references the local coastal terrain and environment through the Landscape Architecture form and materiality. The project, funded by Vic Government is being delivered by KBR and John Holland whilst the Level Crossing Removal Authority will have oversight of the project and will coordinate work with nearby level crossing removal works. Temporary station facilities and rail replacement buses will transport commuters along the line while the station is demolished and rebuilt. The station upgrade is expected to be completed by the end of 2018.
