Acland Street Revamp News / Project Opening / 14.11.2016

The new Acland St plaza designed by McGregor Coxall and BKK architecture officially opened on the 12th November transforming the iconic Melbourne street into a modern public pedestrian corso. The design increased public space by 30% incorporating light rail and adding outdoor dining space. A bespoke range of furniture and shelters compliments the retail environment.

The project was delivered in partnership with Public Transport Victoria and Yarra Trams to integrate transport access to St Kildas iconic shopping strip. The upgraded light rail stop will cater to up to 10,000 visitors each week. The new plaza is capable of hosting markets and events to activate the street and encourage visitors to spend time.
