Acland St vision goes on exhibition

Acland St vision goes on exhibition News / Project Milestone / 02.11.2015

The City of Port Phillip has released the Streetscape Framework delivered by McGregor Coxall in collaboration with BKK Architects.   The vision will create an additional 330 square metres of public plaza that will integrate with existing footpaths and a new level-access tram terminus.  The project has gained support from the Mayor who said,

“We believe the proposed works will encourage even more locals and visitors to experience this unique destination and contribute to the exciting revitalization underway in St Kilda.”

The test of success for the street’s renewal will be largely measured in the social, environmental and economic dividends that follow from each person’s investment of time and energy into the space. Acland Street plays an important part in the daily lives of locals and will continue to be recognised as St Kilda’s vibrant village heart.  The City of Port Phillip is seeking community feedback on the draft streetscape plan until Sunday 15 November, and the final plan is due for consideration before council on 8 December. Construction for the project is scheduled to commence mid-2016.
