The Calyx - coming soon in 2016 News / Project Milestone / 26.08.2015
The Royal Botanic Garden Sydney is growing a new world-class attraction, The Calyx. The living art gallery and a theatrical experience has commenced construction and is due to complete in 2016. The existing Tropical Centre pyramid and foyer has been dismantled and will be replaced by an integrated mix of indoor and outdoor exhibition areas. The new space will provide opportunities for a variety of displays and education endeavours. Early works comprised the demolition of the existing Pyramid and Foyer area, followed by excavation of the hill underneath the pyramid to enable the new facility to be built on the same levels as the Arc and establishment of the contractor’s site storage and equipment. The main works comprise the construction of the new building, refurbishment of the existing Arc, construction of new plant and back of house access to the Depot, new paths and planting.
