McGregor Coxall is thrilled to be awarded two prizes in the prestigious design competition – Downtown Q 2025. The Commercial Q concept 'Ngambri Q' was awarded First Prize and the Downtown Q Master Plan concept 'Clearwater Q' was awarded a Commendation. The competition, endorsed by the AIA and AILA, and organised by the Queanbeyan Business Chamber was open to Australian and International design firms. Downtown Q represents an opportunity for renewal and redevelopment of one of Australia’s oldest inland settlements. A jury comprising of eminent Australian Architects, Landscape Architects, Planners and Urban Designers selected the winning designs. McGregor Coxall’s winning concept ‘ClearWater Q’ is an urban strategy designed to transform the centre of Queanbeyan using water as the city brand and reunite the city with its river origins. By turning around the lost connection to its riverfront and celebrating water as the story that unites public life, the centre can be revived into a living, breathing heart. The concept establishes a framework for ‘incremental urbanism’ over the next decade and beyond, and will be the catalyst for enhancing vibrant public life in a modern pedestrian friendly city.
