Project Description: Located in the centre of one of Sydney’s most picturesque suburbs Kings Cross, the Fitzroy Gardens currently present themselves as a cluttered conglomeration of retaining walls and terraces, failing to attract the local community as a major hub and meeting point for the area. City of Sydney has invited out team to suggest a re-organization of this important public space. Aside to a simplification of the public space by offering a larger area of lawn planting under existing trees we suggest to upgrade the existing police station offering retail space and a cop shop to further activate the edge of the park. An extension of the paved walkway along Macleay Street offers the opportunity to concentrate the weekly market. Flowering rain gardens provide first stormwater treatment.
